Eve-Marie Caravassilis - Cello

 

French Cellist Eve-Marie Caravassilis is widely recognized as one of the rising stars of the international concert scene. Born in Paris in 1982 from a musical family (her father is famed flutist Labros Caravassilis), she began studying the cello at the age of five with Aleth Geiger, then with Marc Latarjet, both prominent cellists on the French musical scene.

 

In 1996, she recived First Prize Summa Cum Laude in the City of Paris competition. She then worked for two years with Xavier Gagnepain at the National Regional Conservatory of Boulogne-Billancourt. She was admitted at the Paris National Conservatory and at the age of fifteen became a student of Michel Strauss. There she graduated with high honors, obtaining her "Diplôme de Formation Supérieure".

 

She then studied in the highly respected "Cycle de Perfectionnement" (Artist Diploma level) at the Paris National Conservatory, as a student of Philippe Muller. In July 2004, she was admitted into a "Konzertexam" class at the Universität der Kunst in Berlin, Germany, as a student of Jens-Peter Maintz. She was noticed during internation competitions, especially the Rostropovitch International Cello Competition, and her immense talent was immediately recognized. From there on her career blossomed.

 

Ms. Caravassilis was invited to participate in numerous master-classes with such renowned artists as Alain Meunier, Maurice Bourgue, Bernard Greenhouse, Christoph Henkel, Christophe Coin and David Geringas.

 

Eve-Marie Caravassilis is very active on the Eurpoean scene, having performed at the Festival du Vexin, Festival des Nuits Narbonnaises as well as numerous European festivals. She has appeared with renowned French artists such Patrice Fontanarosa, Marielle Nordmann, Bruno Pasquier and Laurent Cabasso.

 

 

 

Ms Caravassilis has performed with orchestras in France, the UK and Germany and is a member of the renowned woman's string quartet, "Psophos Quartet".

 

She has been heard on French National Radio and TV, the BBC, German National Radio, as well as on many other Europena radios and TVs.

 

 

 

Eve-Marie Cavassilis plays an anonymous French cello from the 19th century and uses a Bazin bow signed by Darche, loaned to her by the Fonds Instrumental Français.
