Amy Dinsmore, Oboe
Amy Dinsmore is recognized as one of the most prominent oboists in the Boston area. She studied with Peter Bloom, Louis Speyer, Joel Timm, Fred Cohen and Joe Turner.She is a graduate of The Boston Conservatory where she earned her B.A. and M.A degrees in Applied Oboe. She also earned a Masters Degree in Music from Smith College.
Ms. Dinsmore has extensive performing experience in orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout New England. In addition to her position as Principal Oboe with the Waltham Symphony Orchestra, she is also Principal Oboe with the French Symphony of Boston and the New Hampshire Philharmonic Orchestra. She also served as principal oboe with the Raylinmore Opera Company in Peterborough (NH) and Principal Oboe and English Horn with the Project Opera of Massachusetts in Northampton.
Ms Dinsmore has played with orchestras such as the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Nashua Symphony Orchestra (NH), the Civic Orchestra of Boston, the Cape Ann Symphony Orchestra (MA), the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra (MD), the Baltimore Choral Arts Orchestra, the Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra (MA), the Central Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra and the Thayer Symphony Orchestra (MA).
She is an active performer, frequently appearing in solo recitals as well as performances with orchestras. She has appeared in recitals at the Tamworth Music Festival (NH), the Manor House Series (Glenelg, MD), the Dublin Humanities Series (Dublin, NH), the Jones Library Recital Series (Amherst, MA) and the Walden Concert Series (Dublin, NH). She has appeared with the Iris Chamber Players (Peterborough, NH), the Aviva Chamber Players (Northampton, MA), the Valley Baroque Ensemble(Holyoke, MA). She has appeared as a guest soloist with the New Hampshire Philharmonic, the Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra (NH) and the Holyoke Civic Symphony Orchestra (MA).
Ms Dinsmore is also a recognized teacher. She has taught in music schools and conservatories in Massachusetts, Maryland and New Hampshire and maintains a private teaching studio in the Boston area. She was also guest lecturer for colleges in Massachusetts. .
