Kevin Burke -
Percussionist and Director of the Waltham Percussion Ensemble, Kevin Burke plays timpani and percussion in the orchestra. On May 9, 2009 he also brings along his Waltham Percussion Ensemble to perform with the WSO.
Kevin Burke is one of the most influential music educators in Waltham and the MetroWest area. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1994 with a Bechelor of Music in Music Education and decided to dedicate his life to young musicians.
As a performer, he has been seen in performances on drum set and classical percussion in musical theater and classical settings throughout Massachusetts over the last twenty years. While performing with the Reagle Players of Waltham he has had the opportunity to perform with such stage performers as Shirley Jones and John Davidson.
He has also worked with the Lyric Stage Company and Speakeasy Stage Company of Boston and the North Shore Music Theater's children's production as well as many other local community theaters in the Boston area.
In addition, Kevin has performed with Bob McGrath, Sesame Street and Jay Geils as part of small community music events.

Kevin also created the Waltham Percussion Ensemble. The ensemble incorporates highly talented students from the Waltham High School, and its reputation for quality and professionalism is well known and deserved. Kevin has conducted the ensemble in several concerts during the last ten years. The ensemble has performed at the Massachusetts State House, Boston Conservatory, Lexington Heritage Museum, Brandeis University and Zildjian Factory.
Always eager to try new repertoire and explore new avenues in music making, Kevin is actively working in the participation of the full percussion ensemble with the orchestra in a work especially commissioned by the WSO.
Kevin is also a member of the Vic Firth Scholastic Educator Program
