Press Releases

May 1, 2009

Waltham, MA

The Waltham Symphony Orchestra, the premier Civit Symphony Orchestra in the city of Waltham and its surrounding area announces its next season programming.

“It is the first season where the WSO can fully embrace its community goals and fulfill its mission of bringing music to those who are not able to be exposed to it” says Music Director Patrick Botti.

For this 2009-2010 Season, the Waltham Symphony Orchestra will bring international soloists with a very strong local presence and following such as violinist Beyla Keyes in music by Bartok and Chausson, harpist Virginia Crumb in music by Debussy and guitarist Aaron Larget-Kaplan in music by Rodrigo.

Botti’s innovative and irresistible programming will bring on the Waltham stage the famed flamenco artist, LaConja in a surely rousing performance of Ravel’s Bolero, DeFalla “El Amor Brujo” and Bizet’s “Gypsy Danse” for Carmen.

The WSO will bring contemporary American composers to Waltham audiences with music by Pullitzer Prize Winner Yehudi Wyner (“Epilogue”), American-Armenian composer Hayg Boyadjian in a WSO commissioned work (“Overture Imaginaire”), Somerville composer Seth Hamllin in a world premiere (“Provencal”) and the first in a series of four compositions to be performed with Waltham school children by composer Shawn Hauserman.
