The Waltham Symphony Orchestra believes that each child, each student has the right to access  music and discover his or her own true potential through the practice of an instrument.

This is why the WSO is developing a program aiming at helping young children from disadvantaged backgrounds with music lessons they would not be able to afford otherwise.

This program is brand new, and the orchestra has already sponsored a middle-school student from Waltham with instrumental lessons.

Each student not only receives private lessons, primarily  from WSO  professional musicians  but is also helped ine developing a sense of discipline and self-motivation that is very rewarding and is a gift for life.  Ultimately, advanced students will be provided the opportunity to perform with the orchestra.

Playing an instrument and performing in an orchestra is a life enriching and transformational experience as it has been proved by such amazing success stories as Dr. Abreu’s “Il Sistema” music curriculum in Venezuela.
