THE COMPETITION PROVIDES
3 Scholarship prizes
$500 Scholarship to the top winner
Performance by the top winner in the May 2017 WSO Spring AWAKENS concert

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Massachusetts school (public or private)
Applicants must not have graduated from high school
Applicants must be currently enrolled in private lessons
Applicants should be advanced players of conservatory caliber

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
2 Letters of recommendation (one from your current private instructor)
$35 Non-refundable application fee
Applicants must provide a biographical sketch of no more than 500 words (this will be part of the application)
Application

DEADLINE
The application deadline has passed for the 2015-2016 season.  Check back this Spring for the 2016-17 deadline.
Audition slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of application and fee.
Should the slots fill, subsequent applicants will be placed on a wait list; vacancies will be filled by wait list applicants.
Should an applicant not receive a time slot, audition fees will be returned.
Should the applicant lack sufficient experience to qualify for the competition the application fee will be returned.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should prepare a concerto from the standard repertoire.
Applicants are required to perform from memory.
Selected work must be listed on the application.
Applicants must provide their own accompanist on the day of the competition.
Applicants will not have access to the audition venue prior to the day of the audition.
Applicants should prepare 12 minutes of excerpted music from their concerto for the audition.
**The audition committee reserves the right to request sections from any part of the concerto during the audition.

CRITERIA/NOTIFICATION
All decisions by the committee are final.
Applicants shall be judged upon musicianship and performance quality.

WINNER OBLIGATIONS
All winners must be present for presentation of scholarship at the May 2017 Spring AWAKENS concert.
1st place winner shall perform with the Waltham Symphony Orchestra on May 2017
1st place winner shall attend rehearsals the week prior to the performance.
